While working at the Social Security Administration, he met and married the love of his life, Marguerita Brooks on July 18, 1974. Together, Kenneth and Marguerita had three children Nikki, Kevin, and Monique, and later gained an “adopted” son Macheeste Malloy. Kenneth Younger remained a faithful husband to his wife of 48 years, a dedicated father, and patriarch of the family. Kenneth Younger was raised in Doswell Temple, Church of God in Christ in Baltimore, Maryland. Recognizing God’s call on his life, he became licensed as a young minister dedicated to bringing glory to God by reaching the lost. In 1975, Kenneth Younger was ordained an Elder in the Church of God in Christ Maryland Central Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction by the late Bishop James I. Doswell. Fully submitted to his call to ministry, he faithfully served as an associate Elder at the Mason Memorial COGIC under the late Dr. Cornelius B. Washington. In 2008, Elder Younger and his family joined Carter Memorial Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Carl A. Pierce Sr. He continued to dedicate his life to discipleship, teaching, and mentoring others in the gospel and was named the Director of Christian Education. Many who knew him at Carter Memorial COGIC lovingly referred to him as “Rabbi'' because of his knowledge and profound biblical insight. Through his dynamic preaching and teaching ministry, Elder Younger impacted the lives of many. It was without a doubt that he had a strong passion for winning souls, often proclaiming his mission to “snatch people from the fire, hating the garment spotted of the flesh.” (Jude 1:23) Elder Younger preached the unadulterated gospel whether in sickness or good health compelling countless souls to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ. Elder Kenneth Younger made numerous friends wherever he went. He took the time to lend his gift of sharing words of encouragement, lifting others in prayer, offering support and mentorship in any way he could. He was a father figure to many, often admonishing others to “walk in the spirit." Elder Younger will be remembered as a man of prayer, faith, and compassion who loved God’s people and served them diligently. He was a Godly example of a family man who loved his wife & children. He lived by the scripture that he placed over the doorway of his home, “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15) Kenneth is preceded in death by his two brothers: Roy Clifton Younger Jr, and James Younger; and four sisters: Geneva Patton, Marjorie Stroman, Sylvia Malloy, and Rubymae Smith.
