THE LIFE OF JOANN B. SPANN
JoAnn B. Spann was born on February 22, 1950, in Virginia to the late Rev. John Bazemore and late Mable Futrell. She was mothered by Lucille Bazemore Spann since her birth. She completed her mission and went to her heavenly mansion on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
She received Christ at an early age under the leadership of her father, Rev John Bazemore. She then departed Virginia when she was in her early twenties to become a wife and mother. JoAnn gave birth to Darryl Williams in New Jersey on April 4th, 1971, after marrying the late Rooservelt Williams. She later became a widow and moved to Houston, Texas in her mid-twenties.
JoAnn established herself in the ministry, Abundant Life Cathedral and joined longtime friend, Gladys Smith in creating a thriving Daycare Business. Joann continued to raise Darryl to become a great man and son. He went on to marry Kerry Williams and later fathered three beautiful children. Her grandchildren’s names are Aiden, Katelyn and Noah. But she wasn’t satisfied with her accomplishments in Houston, Texas alone. She felt called to adopt and raise Precious and Margaret Rufus in her early 50’s after also considering taking care of her mother, Lucille Spann. She moved to Baltimore, MD in 2002 as a new older mother and caretaker of her elderly mother.
JoAnn’s life was so blessed that the Lord blessed her to find favor and companionship in marriage with Apostle Jerome Spann in 2008. And she served faithfully in both duties as a wife and newfound first lady of Greater Remnant, and later New Life Christian Ministries. She was a great companion and loved her Apostle Jerome Spann as her husband, best friend, and pastor. He provided and protected her with everything he had until her last breath.
JoAnn leaves to cherish her memories to her husband; Apostle Jerome Spann, her son; Darryl Williams and his family, her daughters; Precious and Margaret Rufus, her sister; Joyce McCray and her family, her brothers; John and Melvin Bazemore and their families, her mother; Lucille Spann and her friends and their families; both from Texas and Maryland alike.
